This edition highlights OC creators, indie art‑toy designers, and — together with our partner Indie Wavemaker — introduces a new Gaming Zone featuring original gaming IP from local creators.

SERIOUS TOYS: UNDERSTANDING TRADEMARKS & COPYRIGHT

If you’re a creator, toy designer or building your own IP — this one’s for you. Professor David Tan (NUS Law) will be unpacking the real differences between trademarks and copyright, and how they apply to your work. Clear, practical, and creator‑focused.
From Webcomic to Published Book

Joanne Ang — known affectionately as Jang — is the illustrator, storyteller, and founder behind JangandFox Studio. What began as simple webcomic panels about everyday emotions soon grew into a beloved series that resonated across cultures. Through her gentle animal characters, she transforms small moments into stories of comfort, hope, and connection. In this session, Joanne shares her journey from posting webcomics online to publishing three editions of her JangandFox collection (You and Me, Toi et Moi, and 遇见你真好), reaching readers in English, French, and Mandarin. She will talk about how she built her audience, shaped her IP, navigated the publishing process, and expanded into collaborations — all while staying true to her voice and community.
The Uniplay Journey: From Idea to Studio

Joe Chua is the co‑founder of Uniplay, a creative entrepreneur, and the artist behind Singapore’s original Fortune Merlion. What began as a simple idea between founders has grown into a character studio known for blending sustainability with creative innovation — including turning recycled plastic bottles into 3D‑printing filaments for art toys.
In this session, Joe shares the story of how Uniplay started, the early challenges of building a studio from scratch, and the process of shaping the Fortune Merlion into a recognisable Singapore IP. He will also touch on the collaborations and community support that helped Uniplay grow, from brand partnerships to retail presence at ActionCity in Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport.
This is an honest, down‑to‑earth look at how a small idea can evolve into a meaningful creative studio through persistence, experimentation, and a strong belief in original characters.

Chewzy.art is created by a Singapore‑based artist who loves capturing slice‑of‑life moments through the cat duo Chupii and Chupa — the kind of scenes you’d tag your partner or best friend and say “us.” The brand celebrates connection, companionship, and the small everyday moments that make relationships feel warm and real.
Chupii, the mischievous white hairball, is always pulling playful pranks, while Chupa, the brown, nerdy gamer, sees life most clearly with Chupii by their side. Through stickers, apparel, plushies and matching accessories, chewzy.art turns simple moments into sweet reminders of togetherness.
Hello Jayne

HELLO JAYNE is the illustration brand of Singapore artist Jayne, inspired by everyday local life — from familiar food and neighbourhood moments to the small details that make a place feel like home. With warm colours, expressive characters and playful storytelling, Jayne brings to life Little Lion and his friends as they explore the world with curiosity, joy and wonder.
Little Lion is a young‑hearted explorer who finds magic in simple moments, joined by the three mischievous Duckies who love hiding in plain sight, and Arthur the Otter, a calm and caring adventure buddy from a big otter family. Together, Jayne’s characters remind us to slow down, notice the small things, and appreciate the everyday adventures around us.
PiguBao by HelloPigu

HelloPigu is the artistic world of Brenda Tan, where illustration meets fine‑art sensibilities to explore modern life through playful existential humour. At the centre is Pigubao — a sentient longevity peach bun who fell from heaven and now wanders Earth with arms, legs, and far too many questions. Brenda’s practice spans paintings, installations and murals, with showcases at Art Porters Gallery, Singapore Night Festival and The Substation, all reflecting her signature blend of whimsy and introspection.
In Pigubao’s latest adventure, the character becomes a wandering herbalist, foraging for rare and imaginary remedies to soothe the weary modern soul. Through the Travelling Tonic shop, visitors are invited to sit, share their worries, and receive a custom “tonic prescription” typed live on a vintage typewriter — a small, humorous gesture meant to offer comfort, connection and a moment of lightness.
The Buggles

The Buggles is created by a zookeeper who specialises in invertebrates and illustrates by night, driven by a desire to show the emotional depth of creatures often overlooked. After seeing how misunderstood invertebrates are, the creator began shaping a world where tiny beings could express big feelings — blending scientific familiarity with soft storytelling, humour and everyday chaos. The Buggles became their way of reimagining these creatures as relatable characters, each carrying quirks inspired by real behaviours observed in the field.
At the heart of the IP are Luca, Neo and Peri — three small, spineless creatures navigating life together. Neo the shrimp thrives purely on vibes with his emotional‑support pebble, Peri the worm is permanently stressed with a bucket of emergency dirt, and Luca the stag beetle is strong, shy, and forever wishing for a quiet life he’ll never get. Through them, the creator shows that even the smallest beings can be chaotic, unpredictable and full of heart — proving that invertebrates may be tiny, but their stories are anything but.
